Water Main Break Thomas St East of Evergreen Ave, Arlington Heights
Arlington Heights public works received a report about 8:30 p.m. Monday December 24, 2018 of a water main break on Thomas Street east of Evergreen Avenue on the south side of the Thomas Street. Public Works crews went to work immediately to repair the water main break. The streets and sidewalks were very slippery in the area and crews were immediately treating the streets and sidewalks with salt.
The best practice is to avoid drinking water in the neighborhood of a water main break because low pressure conditions in the broken pipe can cause harmful contaminants to be drawn into the break in the pipe, and possibly cause harmful contaminants to enter the drinking water supply locally.
