The Arlington Heights village board voted on Monday to allow a new driveway with access to Waterman Avenue from the new shopping center along Northwest Highway, which includes the Chicago Swim School, Sherwin Williams Paint, Bellevue Pharmacy, Culver's and other retail storefronts.
Residents have been heading east down an alley that is parallel to Gregory Street, and opens to Waterman Avenue. The driveway was initially rejected in the plans to prevent people from driving north into the residential neighborhood north of the shopping center. Drivers are heading north anyway by using the alley.
